Shaping the Risk

Sustainable security is an approach developed by the team behind Safer Yemen and it builds on the notion that our security as companies, organisations and individuals cannot be separated from the environment in which we operate. This should be understood in the way that the security measures we take in order to stay safe will have an impact on our operational environment and contribute to shaping the risks we face. Rather than engaging in short-term solutions that often have a negative impact on our operational environment and contribute to escalation in violence and increased risk, the idea behind sustainable security is to design and implement all security measures in a way that they are sustainable both to us and to our, often fragile, operational environment
